(Editor’s Note: So I will add this disclaimer up front for Mister Graham because I am not quite educated enough to truly comment at any great length on the following matter, but I’m doing my best to keep up with the facts.)
I have been saying to various people that I am quite unpleased with the Prez-elect’s choice for Secretary of State, but probably not for the reasons you may assume. There are those who certainly nod their heads in enthusiastic agreement with me, almost bordering on bobble-head patterns I may add, but I offer my reasons and the bobble heading ceases.
It is NOT because of Hillary per se. I am not one who despises her or feels she is a detriment to women-folk, Christian-folk, and/or wife-folk. Personally, I have disliked some of her choices and I certainly wouldn’t have voted for her if she was one of the choices. People on the other end of the spectrum criticized women like myself who wouldn’t support someone as strong as Mrs. Clinton just on the basis she was a woman. And then I had to laugh when Mrs. Palin came around knocking for votes. There was no way I’d vote for her if she was the only one running. I’d write myself in first and I have a very low opinion of myself as a presidential candidate, so there’s that.
My first and really most significant problem with Senator Clinton is only this – I thought Obama’s administration was about change. You know, meaning don’t throw the same people in that have been in our faces for the past 16 years. Now before you criticize my math, stick with me here.
Bill Clinton was supposed to be our hope for change back in his day. We waited. We thought ok the Democrats were going to do something or other for someone or other. The republicans blamed him for screwing up, or at the very least not making enough effort to fix our economy, among other things (such as most significantly international relations with Iraq/etc). Then when we actually voted in another BUSH, as if the first Bush did such a bang-up job, we said, ok now the Republicans can at least claim some responsibility for doing something right. And we waited for that.
Now I am not into the whole partisan thing to begin with but i certainly understand that it’s more layered and complicated than I’m making it. But what I felt most about the Obama campaign was this sense of changing things up to spread across the parties and figure stuff out in a new light. To get rid of the “been there done that” mentalities of the past administrations and look at things in a fresh way.
So how can you possibly do that with ANOTHER CLINTON in there? It’s just baffles me. I mean not even to mention that not all that long ago their respective campaigns were bashing each other upside the head. I mean do the American people really have that bad a case of ADD? Did you honestly think we just forgot how you were spewing vitriol in between your “vote for me” pleas? Now they are all just going to get along swimmingly and just agree on everything, right? Sure why not? We’re all adults here. I’m sure Ms. Clinton is a not a sore loser, I mean she’s still married to Bill aint she? haha
Anyway, my point, albeit fuzzy, is that I wanted to see some new faces and new ideas. As much as I dislike Condoleezza Rice in her continued failures, I really can’t see Ms Clinton doing much more. Hopefully I’m wrong. I really do hope I’m wrong. I actually LIKE to be proven wrong because I tend to not have high expectations of anyone and think they will utterly and completely disappoint me. But, in some wacky way, I actually have very high expectations and want people to totally bowl me over. (And if that makes any sense to you, you rock. But I have the feeling most of you won’t get it. Haha see how that works?)
So I’m sorry to all the Hillary lovers, I just can’t be excited. I wish her well and I hope that she rises to the occasion and makes us proud. Just dont expect me to sing her praises until she actually does something noteworthy.
